are viewing a Vintage North Dakota Highway 200 Sign Retired Indian Head.
It is definitely original and retired. This particular sign was from
the 50’s as it consists of the old reflective paint (not tape). It is a
super rare piece because all North Dakota Highway Indian Head signs have
been retired as of last year. there is actually a company out of Fargo
who spent the last year swapping out the Indian head signs for a sign
that is an outline of North Dakota state. What makes my sign super rare
is its older than the reflective tape version, and this company out of
Fargo will be defacing the signs and adding new graphics for other road
signs. The Indian Head signs will disappear. They are all being
destroyed. If you Google, “North Dakota drops Red Tomahawk Road Signs”
you will see articles on this. Essentially, the state is upset that the
Native Tribes in North Dakota fought to get our beloved “Fighting Sioux”
logo from the Englestad Arena replaced. The tribe won. Our UND team is
now called the fighting hawks. It is a HUGE large upset so the state
decided to pull all the Native American signs down as well.
