old saws

Some of the toughest men and women came from those who first started settling across the United States. In heavily wooded areas that required clearing enormous trees with horses and hand saws. People were required to have their own sawmills so they could clear and build new infrastructure. Today, few of these exist, but the ones that do are a sight to see. Here at PrairieGrit we are lucky enough to have some old logging enthusiasts that collect and sell different styles of old saws and sawmill equipment. You can scroll to see all the different types of saw blades from old circular sawmill blades to misery whips (aka the two-man crosscut saw) and even to the simple, but necessary bucksaws.
